MONTE BASKET Academy was founded in 2006 in Albufeira, with the aim to promote basketball during the summer period. Camps for Specialization are designed for talented and ambitious players of both sexes, aged 10 to 18 years. Specific work on Camp for Playmakers, Shooting Guards and Centers, in compliance with adequate physical preparation, helps players to learn new and correct basketball techniques adopted. PRO CAMP is directed to players who need individual approach to work, to be better prepared to start his professional career. PRO CAMP is ideal for players aged 16 to 20 years, who aim to become extraordinary players.
The Academy Monte Basket 2011 hit a total of 105 participating athletes. During the three weeks 65 players were enrolled in the bases, 23 players in the field of launchers and 17 athletes in the Pro Camp.
Once again, the Academy Monte Basket accepted players from all over the country: Albufeira, Faro, São Brás de Alportel, Évora, Sesimbra, Setúbal, Barreiro, Lisboa, Queluz, Santarém, Tondela, Ovar, Póvoa do Varzim, Gaia, Porto, Guimarães, Vila Real e Funchal.
To make the experience of all these young people more exciting, nothing was better than a visit from the former and current stars in our basketball. The best Portuguese player of all time Carlos Lisboa and one of the best Portuguese active players Sergio Ramos had told their experence and given useful advice to young players. The technical work was coordinated by Goran Nogic, and the event was attended by coaches: Calabote Jose, Gonzalo Ferreira, Sergio Ramos, Andre Cardoso, João Tavares and Francisco Cruz.
One of the most memorable moments for the attending players of the Academy is when winning the prestigious award to participate in The Camp AKK Aleksandar Nikolic, which is going to be held in July 2012, in the mountain Zlatibor, Serbia.

The Academy Mount Basket appreciates the commitment of its employees, the confidence of athletes' parents, as well as precious support of Montechoro Hotel and the City Council of Albufeira. We all contributed to the 2011 Academy to become a huge success.
As previously reported, athletes Ricardo Ramos (FC Barreirense) and João Soares (SL Benfica) were the winners of the 2011 Academy Monte Basket, and will have the opportunity to participate in the Serbian camp "Professor AKK. Aleksandar Nikolic," together with the Benfica coach Mr. Francisco Cruz, who will volunteer at Academy Monte Basket.
The athletes will depart from Lisbon airport on July 28 and then will travel for four hours from Belgrade to the well-known mountain, Zlatibor. For eight days, from July 29 until August 5, they will attend the 36th edition of the Camp, known by giving players like Aleksandar Djordjevic, Predrag Danilovic, Zeljko Rebraca, Dejan Bodiroga and Igor Rakocevic, among others.
The Camp"Professor. Aleksandar Nikolic " works according to programs outlined by the most famous Serbian coach, member of the House of Honnors in Springfield, Mr. Aleksandar Nikolic who trained some of the best coaches in Europe: Zeljko Obradovic, Svetislav Pesic and Bozidar Maljkovic, among others.
The return of the athletes to Lisbon is scheduled for August 6.
Tomas Barroso and Antonio Monteiro, one of the most talented young players in the Portuguese basketball, will participate as PRO CAMP demonstrators, during all four shifts of Academy Monte Basket.
Both young players have had in last season, many successful moments playing for their teams (Ginasio e Penafiel), where they are especially emphasized as unusual assistants and offensive jumpers, and also show dedication and quality in defensive tasks.
So, all members of PRO CAMP and Special Camps (for Guards, Shooters and Centres) will have an exceptional opportunity to see and participate on practices with two futures aces of Portuguese basketball.
